y° 08' 52" N., x° 28' 49" W.

A mass of only 895 g was found in the Sahara Desert by the Labenne family in a region previously unexplored for meteorites. A sample was submitted to the Planetary and Space Sciences Research Institute at the Open University, UK, and this chondrite was given a transitional classification with a petrologic grade falling between 5 and 6. Sahara 97021 has a weathering grade of W2 and a shock stage of S2–3.
